I’m a creative, neurodivergent weirdo who lives in Los Angeles with my cat, Chicken.
Oh—I’m also a represented & published author who’s obsessed with reading, writing, and working with others.
I’ve always been a writer—but I was the last one to see it.
At 12, I became obsessed with psychology. My teachers encouraged me to write, but I always responded with Chekhov’s line: “Medicine is my lawful wife, and literature is my mistress.”
The truth, of course, is that I was afraid—of wanting to follow both passions at once.
As an undergrad, I studied Psychology with minors in Sociology and Creative Writing at the University of Denver—known for having the nation’s best Creative Writing PhD program. I was a nontraditional student, and worked many jobs while in college: I was an outreach coordinator for a local nonprofit, youth mentor, barista, bartender, and even urinalysis technician (it was as fun as it sounds). I was awarded a fancy scholarship, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I was also awarded a scholarship to the Naropa University Summer Program, where I studied poetry with Hoa Nguyen and Anne Waldman.
After graduating with my BA, I continued to explore my interest in psychology, volunteering as a rape crisis counselor and clinical trauma studies research assistant…but the call of writing returned.
Once I completed the MFA program, I returned to Los Angeles, where I worked as an ACT prep tutor, and later taught middle and high school English Language Arts, AP Literature, and AP Psychology at a small, accredited online school. I also finished my first novel and gained representation with Regal Hoffmann.
In search of a more flexible and creatively-fulfilling lifestyle, I began freelancing full-time in 2022—and I’ve never looked back.
Today, my twin passions for both writing and psychology are alive and well. I’ve been fortunate to write for local therapists, and to work as a science communicator in the EdTech world. As I continue to work with my incredible, inspiring clients and students, I’m also pursuing an MS MFT so I can take my
And so, I went on to earn my MFA in Creative Writing from UMass Amherst, where I was awarded the UMass Fiction Fellowship in 2015, and the Writing Program Fellowship in ‘15, ’16, and ’17. At UMass, I was mentored by award-winning novelists like Sabina Murray, Ocean Vuong, Noy Holland, and Edie Meidav. I also taught College Writing and Creative Writing at the university level, and fell in love with teaching.
Outside of work,
I volunteer weekly with School on Wheels - an organization that provides tutoring to students experiencing homelessness.
I’m a published author, currently working on my second novel.
I’m also a passionate abolitionist, and participate in weekly actions with JusticeLA.
I nurture myself by doing yoga, connecting with my sober community, attending therapy, and participating in a weekly writing workshop.
